Tuesday, March 30, 2010 This is becoming a regular occurrence at home. I was preparing mac and cheese dinner for the usual group of people when I scalded my thumb. Apparently the cloth I used to hold the pot wasn't thick enough - and as usual, my slow reaction caused the mishap. Lesson learnt - don't come to my place for accident-free dinners. Curtain Call @ 7:14 PM
Sunday, March 28, 2010 My sister asked if I am celebrating the end of school life this Saturday. Well, that chalet last Wednesday was the celebration. She kind of snorted at me, celebrating before the end. We'll probably do something this weekend, since the parents are doing their own 'celebration' somewhere in Malaysia starting this coming Thursday. On another note, this was the second time in a row I forgot about Earth Hour. Last year, managed to participate halfway through the end. This year, totally forgot until few minutes ago. In my defense, we went out at 9pm so technically we participate the last half of the hour since no one was home. Oh well, we are all getting older... Curtain Call @ 12:01 AM
Saturday, March 27, 2010 Is orange juice a natural laxative? Well my body surely thinks so. After four oranges this morning, let's just say the toilet bowl is my best friend now. For the past two days, I think I've had like a dozen mandarin oranges - just the juice. I spit the rest out after I chewed the last bit of juice. Now I'm craving for super spicy cili padi curry Maggi. Great. I'll be a ticking bomb waiting to explode by night time. Curtain Call @ 12:58 PM
Friday, March 26, 2010 With this last hurdle, I told myself to put all I've got on the table but it proved too distracting with this 18.4 inch of entertainment within reach. So I told everybody in the house to bang my door way earlier than I usually wake so I can drag my lazy ass to the library for a lengthy study session later today. Dead serious. EZ-Link, Blackberry, notes, papers and pen and I'm ready to go! Curtain Call @ 12:04 AM
Thursday, March 25, 2010 Reached the doorstep at 2.30am - so late that even the rats are sleeping, my brother commented. However, with all the creepy crawlers we saw at the bungalow, I doubt he was right. Plus, I saw one giant lizard in the showers couple minutes ago. There was also a certain creepy person back at the bungalow - probably drunk, but who knows. Bottom line, I had fun - good people and good food. What more can you ask? Oh, and a ride home! Thanks big brother for fetching me although you were sick. Appreciate it lots! Curtain Call @ 2:56 AM
Tuesday, March 23, 2010 Is it always an issue with being the youngest in the family, or is it an issue of being a 'girl' - period? Whichever it is, I'm both. All my life, I have 'adults' hovering over every decisions I made - is that a good or bad thing? I'm the last of five - six including my god sister - and trust me, that is a lot of grownups to hover. I guess I'm lucky to have people looking out for my well-being - though I'm a little bit amused when they worry about an innocent BBQ gathering I'm attending. So who's picking me up after midnight? Curtain Call @ 9:52 PM
Monday, March 22, 2010 So check it out - I got hold of a romantic short novel and read a couple of pages and it was so sexy. A good hook too - something about both lovers having a dark secret they can't tell each other. So I read it until almost the end (a short story remember?) and guess what the dark secret was? One was a vampire and the other a werewolf. Close and delete. One hour of my life I won't get back. That was the stupidest plot I have ever read in my life! Next eBook please! Curtain Call @ 7:58 PM
Sunday, March 21, 2010 Who would have known the popular green waffles sold in bakeries across Singapore are made with a hint of pandan to give it its taste. I've always thought that green was just the choice of coloring just as green was the choice of the green screen used in films. I eat that piece of cake at least once a month for God's sake! How aloof can one be? Curtain Call @ 8:51 PM
Saturday, March 20, 2010 Today I discovered Microsoft Reader. I have always depended on Adobe Reader to open my eBooks. But I came across a different file extension which Adobe doesn't support, hence the discovery. I must say Microsoft Reader really caught my attention on the first use. The fonts are bigger and it requires one click to go to the next page. Unlike Adobe which needs magnifying for bigger fonts which then requires multiple scrolling to get to the next page. In Microsoft Reader, you can get the program to read to you - but don't get your hope up. I was never an eloquent speaker, but the reader is so monotonous you cannot figure out if the sentence was a question or just a line. I'd rather stick to reading to myself for now. Having a Kindle or an iPad would sound so perfect right about now... Curtain Call @ 7:59 PM
Friday, March 19, 2010 Too much are being tossed around during these last days of class. Maybe it has always been there, but maybe I was too carefree (someone mentioned) to caught sight of it. Maybe that's true. I used to know bits and pieces, but it's kind of complete now. Sad to say, things shouldn't end they way it did. Bridges are burned. Do I regret all that happened in the three years we were together? Absolutely not. Believe it or not, my arms are open wide for when you come to your senses to continue this friendship. Until then, I'm just glad one war is over. Curtain Call @ 6:29 PM
Thursday, March 18, 2010 You will never know who might see you status and comments in Facebook. At least I don't think I offended anybody. I wasn't the one who said that he looked like he survived the Holocaust. That was classic! Curtain Call @ 6:07 PM
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 I accidentally poured a whole bottle of ground pepper on my egg mayo mix - all because of Oprah. My brother had to wait extra long for his croissant filling because I had to skim the top layer off. Now our throats are all burning. Way to go for ruining a simple dinner. I bet this night will be a laughing stock for a while. Curtain Call @ 8:59 PM
ACT 12: DetourWhat was initially the purpose to see the location of our future house turns out to include a supper run to the nearest (or biggest as my brother said it) petrol kiosk's NTUC Express. Now I have lunch for later, which I will need to stay awake - which is almost everyday with this politics module - because it's 2am and I'm still not prepared for lessons later. And totally not prepared to give an oral on 'The most dangerous place on Earth' due the next day... Curtain Call @ 2:00 AM
Sunday, March 14, 2010 Maybe it's in the heat of the moment that people tend to say something they not mean. It is also in that moment you realized their true feelings. And people tend to regret they said it out loud when they cooled down. When I am angry, I say want I want to say to the person - but to myself. When I got it out of my system, I get out of the room and keep my mouth shut. Because talking back to your elders is considered a sin. But sometimes, I just cry... Curtain Call @ 1:50 PM
Saturday, March 13, 2010 The art of haggling and negotiation being put to use to make a very important purchase - a house. It is also where you can notice the 'money-minded' agents that you just want to choke. I learnt a thing or two about property - it will take a very long time for me to own one. Curtain Call @ 8:03 PM
Friday, March 12, 2010 I seriously have no idea what is wrong. There seems to be no social boundaries - online and face-to-face. The effort to get close to everybody is applaudable, but enough is enough! There is no need to get into every conversation. People can tell if you are trying too much, it's almost desperate. Curtain Call @ 7:48 PM
Thursday, March 11, 2010 I did a horrible thing today. I cheat on a quiz. Ah, it brings back memories when I used to cheat on history tests way back when. Technology is what the difference is because last time, I used to slid the answers below pieces of paper and peek at them when the teacher wasn't looking. Now, flip a phone, access the Internet and wa lah!. The answer is senate and house. Then of course, what is a class who doesn't share. If only the person beside me bothered to look on democracy, then we will definitely score a higher mark. Oh relax! No harm done. It's a harmless closed-book-but-open-notes quiz. I chose to think of the Internet as my notes... Curtain Call @ 6:42 PM
Wednesday, March 10, 2010 I was half an hour late for class today. It wasn't that bad considering some people even forgot class started today. And by some people I mean Darren. I do admire people who continue working past retirement age, I do. But that also mean students have to do extra stuff in class like talk louder (or shout) or repeat their opinions multiple times, getting louder after each try. I don't mind. I'm usually on the same track as to what is going on in class. But don't use chickens as an example then ends it up with monkeys. Wait, what happened in the middle? I think I remembered baboons being thrown somewhere in there. Come to think of it, I can't remember what the whole point of the example was. Curtain Call @ 3:48 PM
Tuesday, March 9, 2010 My phone bill is a month overdue. I owe my eldest sister money. I haven't got any cash to buy the next module's textbook. And I believe my ez-link is low on credit for school tomorrow. How's that for broke? Curtain Call @ 5:50 PM
Monday, March 8, 2010 ![]() Remember when it was so cold five layers of clothes weren't enough to keep us warm? That a blast of cold air surprised us when we opened the door because we kept our house hot like a sauna? That sweat was impossible? Please bring me back there because I can't stand the humidity anymore here in sunny Singapore! Curtain Call @ 3:58 PM
Sunday, March 7, 2010 I never thought I would love a heavily drama movie, but I did. Please take a few hours to watch The Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock because it's really, really a good movie. I'll be rooting for her to win the Oscars for Best Actress! But I'll tell you something - I'll never, ever, ever watch a ghost-themed movie even if you say you love me...and bribe me a million Pooh bears! Curtain Call @ 2:11 AM
Saturday, March 6, 2010 Where my tears are of joy, not from some twisted ploy; Where my lips tremble for that impending kiss, not from holding back cries life brings; Where my smiles are pure, not an act to secure; Where my thoughts are of our happy memories, not our deceptions and lies; Oh fantasy is a beauty, that comes true every nighty Curtain Call @ 1:44 PM
Friday, March 5, 2010 My second book for the day, third in two days. I'll breeze past the five novels in no time. I've been in the same positioning for so long I've got bedsores. I'm not complaining, because days like this are numbered. On another note, also took home with me a malay novel. Their characters are Ryan, Ichlas and Carra Lina - enough to trick my mind into thinking its English. Curtain Call @ 3:57 PM
Thursday, March 4, 2010 The start. Curtain Call @ 10:09 AM
